The potential toxicity of personal credit debt and as-yet-unseen fallout of commercial real estate default coupled with the WFC nonsense (is it the analysts that are just downright stupid or is there something just irreconcilible in the "surprise"?) would be a bit worrisome.
Fear is not a sustainable emotion...people burnt out on fear now, but there's still plenty to be fearful of. No?

And, btw, Moby, stocks AREN'T being bought like xmas decorations...one day of above average volume does not convince me of heavy buying (additionally, considering BAC alone traded over a billion shares...by itself accounting for more than the entire increase in NYSE trading).
Personally, things don't appear to be stabilizing...they appear to be getting more and more fishy.

Sorry...and what the hell with retail leading the rally? To me, that smacks of speculation...and poor speculation to boot. Anyone without their head in the sand can walk down their main street and see stuff collapsing left and right...I live in one of the most affluent areas in the nation and the number of "for lease" signs has noticeably rocketed in just the past few weeks. Sorry to get all Peter Lynch, but his philosophy works both ways.
What will fill those spaces in the absence of Starbucks and Walmart expansion? The rebirth of small business? Hopefully...but what's that going to do for BBBY stock?

I suspect that what we are seeing is primarily an oversold bounce. I was looking at book prices and they were driven well below stock prices.
We can not expect the market to be driven by rational thinking. Stocks spend most of their time either substantially over or under priced and spend relatively little time priced to accurately represent the worth of the company.
